 Membrane Filters
|
|
Membrane filters take care of the removal of the smallest, in most cases invisible particles or contaminants.
A membrane filter system consists of a membrane which is converted to a cartridge or module, a housing /
pressure vessel, a pump, pipework, valves etc.
Membrane filters are available in various removal categories, from micro filtration, over ultra and nano filtration to reverse osmosis. Systems can be designed as a cartridge filter or disposable capsule with dead-end flow, or as a crossflow filter in spiral, plate-and-frame, tubular or capillary / hollow fiber configuration. Applications in general are to clarify, purify, sterilize or concentrate liquids, found in food & beverage processing, e.g. dairy, or juice, drinking or process water, waste water treatment (MBR membrane bio-reactor), textile, electro-coating, pharmaceutics, sea water desalination, and many more. Other than in liquid, there are applications in air and gas treatment, e.g. sterilization of air or carbon dioxide, gas separation, drying and pervaporation, or fine dust removal.
